1. Abraham Lincoln

The 16th President of the US, Abraham Lincoln, had been a mailman for a time in 1831. He worked as a postal worker in his native town of New Salem.  There was no postal office in his hometown, so he had to carry around the posts in his hat to deliver them to the recipients.

2. Walt Disney

Before waltzing his way to Hollywood stardom, Walt Disney had once worked as a postal carrier in his hometown in Chicago. He had once told that he was first rejected for the post office job since he was 16 when he had applied. But later he re-applied, disguised as an older gentleman, and got the position. Disney had a dual job at the postal office working as a carrier during the day and collector during the night.

3. Charles Lindbergh

Another famous personality who had once been a postal office worker was Charles Lindenberg. He worked as an airman pilot delivering mails across the US. Despite lack of proper runways and equipment, he had maintained a 99 percent efficiency in delivering mails.

4. Sherman Hemsley

Sherman Hemsley, the famous actor who had starred in movies and TV shows such as Mr. Nanny and the Jeffersons had worked as a postal clerk, first in Philadelphia and then in New York. He kept working as a mailman as he took small acting roles during the night.

5. Benjamin Franklin

Originally, Benjamin Franklin worked for the British government when the US was one of its colonies. After independence, he had pioneered the formation of the US postal office in the US. He had been commemorated the most times in the US postage stamp after George Washington.
